📏 What Is Stride Length, and Why Does It Matter?

Your stride length is the distance you travel with each step.

It’s usually estimated based on your height and sometimes your pace—and it’s your device (not Stridekick) that calculates it.

Stridekick doesn’t convert steps to distance (or vice versa). We only sync what your device sends us!

🧠 How It Affects Your Challenge

Because of how stride length works:

  • People with shorter strides tend to get more steps for the same distance

  • People with longer strides usually rack up fewer steps over that same distance

Think of it this way:

Smaller legs = more steps to cover the same ground 👣
Longer legs = fewer, bigger steps 🐾

So, if you and your friend walk 1 mile together, your step totals may look very different—even if your distance is the same.
