Hereâs how scoring works in some of Stridekickâs most competitive challenge formatsâincluding individual and team-based modules. Scroll to the bottom for quick answers to frequently asked scoring questions!
đ Leaderboard Scoring
The Leaderboard module ranks participants from highest to lowest based on their total steps, distance, or active minutes over the course of the challenge so far.
Your total = The sum of your daily steps, distance, or minutes for each day of the challenge to date.
đŻââď¸ Team Leaderboard Scoring
The Team Leaderboard ranks teams by their average total activity (steps, distance, or minutes). We use averages to ensure fairness between teams of different sizes.
How it works:
Add up the total steps (or distance/minutes) for each team member
Combine those totals for a team-wide sum
Divide that sum by the number of team members
Example:
Member 1: 150,000 steps
Member 2: 100,000 steps
Member 3: 300,000 steps
Total Team Steps = 550,000
âTeam Members = 3
âAverage = 550,000 á 3 = 183,333 steps
đşď¸ Team Virtual Race Scoring
The Team Virtual Race is scored just like the Team Leaderboardâbut it uses distance instead of steps or minutes.
Example:
Member 1: 50 miles
Member 2: 80 miles
Member 3: 60 miles
Total Team Distance = 190 miles
âTeam Members = 3
âAverage = 190 á 3 = 63.33 miles
âFrequently Asked Questions
đ Will non-syncing users affect my teamâs score?
Yes. If a teammate isnât syncing data, their zero will be included in the teamâs average. Every team memberâs totals count.
đ I synced, but my team score didnât updateâwhy?
Stridekick pulls up to 30 days of data, but challenges only actively score the last 7 days.
â
If you havenât synced in over a week, your device data may update in your account but not count toward the challenge.
âTip: Sync daily to keep your challenge score accurate.
âł I joined lateâwhy doesnât my full data count?
When you join a challenge, Stridekick will score your last 7 days of activity, regardless of when the challenge started.
â
Thatâs why itâs best to join early and sync often!
đ The challenge ended. Can I still sync and get credit?
Yesâwithin the 72-hour grace period.
â
All Stridekick challenges include a 3-day window after the challenge ends to allow final syncing.
â
After that, all scores are final.
đ How is the new team scoring different from before?
Old scoring:
Based on daily averages
Calculated: total steps â team size â number of days
Scores could fluctuate up or down
New scoring (current):
Based on total average
Calculated: total steps â team size
Scores only increase (or stay the same) as the challenge goes on
More consistent, transparent, and aligned with individual scoring
â The leaderboard outcome isnât affectedâthe new method just simplifies things and makes team progress easier to track!
