Protect Your Privacy with Friend Request Codes

Control who can send you friend requests by using a unique code you can share with people you trust.

Updated this week

Friend request codes give you more control over who can send you friend requests on Stridekick. Instead of receiving requests from anyone, you can choose to only accept requests from people who have your unique code.

Friend request codes are available on Stridekick version 2.30.7 and above. Make sure your app is up to date to access this feature.

What is a Friend Request Code?

A friend request code is a short, unique code linked to your Stridekick profile.

When this setting is turned on:

  • Only people with your code can send you a friend request

  • Anyone without the code will be prompted to enter it before their request can be sent

  • You stay in control of who can connect with you

Why You’d Use a Friend Request Code

This feature is especially helpful if you want to:

✅ Avoid random or unwanted friend requests

✅ Keep your profile more private

✅ Only connect with people you actually know

✅ Share your profile intentionally (with friends, family, teammates, or challenge groups)

It’s perfect if you love the social side of Stridekick — just on your terms.

Where to Find the Setting

You can manage your friend request code here:

Settings → Profile Privacy → Friend Request Code

From this screen, you can:

  • Turn the code ON or OFF

  • View your unique code

  • Copy it to share with friends

How It Works

1. Turning the Code ON or OFF

  • Code OFF (Default behavior)
Anyone on Stridekick can send you a friend request.

  • Code ON
Only people with your unique code can send you a request.

When enabled, you’ll also see your code displayed clearly so you can share it.

2. Sharing Your Code

  • Tap the copy code icon

  • You’ll see a confirmation toast: “Friend request code copied!”

  • Your code is now on your clipboard and ready to share via text, email, or chat

💡 Tip: Share your code only with people you actually want to connect with.

3. Adding a Friend When a Code Is Required

If you try to add a friend who has enabled a friend request code:

  • Instead of the standard “Add Friend” modal, you’ll see a code entry modal

  • The modal will prompt you to enter that person’s unique code

Once you start typing, the Send Request button becomes active.

4. What Happens Next

  • Correct code entered

    • Request is sent successfully

    • Modal closes automatically

    • You’ll see a success message at the top

    • A Cancel Request button appears if you change your mind

  • Incorrect code entered

    • The input field shows a red error outline

    • You’ll feel a subtle haptic buzz

    • An “Invalid code” message appears

Friend Requests & Visibility

Requests List Education

When friend request codes are enabled:

  • You’ll see a helpful message in your Requests list explaining the new setting

  • This message can be dismissed by tapping X

Code Display on Requests Page

If the feature is turned on:

  • Your friend request code appears at the top of the Requests page

  • This makes it easy to find and share without digging into settings

Important Notes

  • When you send a friend request, your full name will be shown to the recipient

  • Turning on a friend request code does not remove existing friends

  • You can turn the code off anytime to return to open requests

Want to Invite Friends?

You can always invite friends to join Stridekick directly — and share your code once they’re in.

More control. Less noise. Same great Stridekick experience.
