đ What is Google Health Connect
Health Connect is a free Android feature that allows your favorite health and fitness appsâsuch as Samsung Health, Fitbit, Nike Run Club, Oura, and moreâto securely share data with each other.
Stridekick uses Health Connect as a bridge to access your steps and distance data from apps that track your activity.
đ¤ Who Should Use Health Connect?
Health Connect is ideal for Android users who:
â Use only an Android smartphone (no wearable) to track steps via an app like Samsung Health
â Use a fitness device or app not directly supported by Stridekick, such as: Oura Ring, Whoop, Nike Run Club, Mi Fitness and other niche wearables or health apps
â Use multiple fitness apps or devices and want to sync all their data in one place
â ď¸ Note: Health Connect itself does not track your steps. It works behind the scenes to connect apps that do. It serves as a centralized data-sharing hub, allowing users to link multiple fitness sourcesâeven across different devices or platforms.
đ To use Google Health Connect, you must be on Android version 28+
đ˛ Download from the Google Play Store if you donât already have it.
đ Step 1: Enabling App Permissions
Once you download Health Connect, you will need to make sure Health Connect has permission to sync your data:
On your device, open the Health Connect app.
Tap App permissions.
Select the app(s) that you would like to sync with Health Connect (like Samsung Health or Fitbit).
Toggle on or select permissions on the data types you'd like to sync (Steps, Distance, etc).
