If you’re using Google Fit on Android, Health Connect helps your apps share health and fitness data more easily. Think of it as a secure hub that lets your apps “talk” to each other.
Once connected, Google Fit can sync data from your smartwatch or other health apps through Health Connect, so all your activity shows up in one place. 💪
🛠️ Step 1: Get started with Health Connect
Health Connect comes pre-installed on many newer Android phones.
For Android 14 and up:
Open Settings.
Tap Security and privacy > Privacy Controls > Health Connect
For Android 13 and lower:
Download the Health Connect app from the Play Store.
Open Settings.
Tap Apps > All Apps > Health Connect
Tap Open.
🔄 Step 2: Turn on Sync in Google Fit
Open the Google Fit app.
Tap your Profile 👤 tab → Settings ⚙️
Under Health Connect, turn on Sync Fit with Health Connect.
This allows Google Fit to share and receive data through Health Connect.
⚙️ Step 3: Manage Health Connect Settings
You can manage your connected apps and permissions anytime, either from your phone’s settings or directly within Google Fit.
Option 1: From your phone settings
Go to Settings → Apps → Health Connect → Open.
Option 2: From the Google Fit app
Open Google Fit.
Tap Profile 👤 → Settings ⚙️
Under Health Connect, tap Manage data and access → Connected apps.
From here, you can check or update which apps have access to your health data.
📲 Step 4: Connect Health Connect to Stridekick
Now that your tracking app is linked to Health Connect, it’s time to connect Stridekick.
Open your Stridekick app.
Tap the menu bars (☰) in the top left corner.
Select Settings → Device.
Choose Health Connect from the list of devices.
Tap Allow when prompted to give Stridekick access to your activity data.
Tap the blue Get Started button.
When prompted, toggle Allow all → then select Allow to confirm.
You’ll see a confirmation message — tap OK to finish.
🔁 Step 5: Sync Your Data
Health Connect doesn’t sync automatically, so you’ll want to make sure your latest activity is shared correctly.
To sync your data:
✅ Open your tracking app (Google Fit) and make sure it’s updated.
✅ Open Stridekick to refresh your data.
✅ Make sure you’re connected to the internet.
❌ Optional: Disconnect Google Fit from Health Connect
If you ever want to stop sharing data:
Open Google Fit → Profile → Settings ⚙️
Under Health Connect, turn off Sync Fit with Health Connect.
You can also delete any data Google Fit previously wrote to Health Connect from your Fit settings.
