If you’ve already followed the steps to connect and sync Samsung Health to Stridekick but your steps, distance, or active minutes still aren’t syncing, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
🧠 Quick Note Before You Start
The most reliable way to connect Samsung Health to Stridekick is through Health Connect, a free Android app that securely shares data between your health and fitness apps.
Health Connect sits in the middle, passing data between Samsung Health and Stridekick.
Stridekick never reads data directly from Samsung Health — only what Samsung shares through Health Connect.
⚠️ Heads up: Samsung Health does not always send distance data consistently through Health Connect. This is a known Samsung limitation, not a Stridekick issue.
You can fix this by connecting Google Fit as well — more on that below.
✅ Step 1: Check App Permissions
Stridekick can’t sync data unless it has permission to read it from Health Connect.
To check:
Open Health Connect on your phone.
Tap App permissions under Permissions and data.
Find and tap Stridekick.
Make sure all permissions are turned ON — especially Steps and Distance.
🔍 Tip: Use the 🔎 search icon in the top right to quickly find Stridekick.
If permissions look good, do the same for your tracking app (Google Fit, Fitbit, or Samsung Health):
Make sure it has Read + Write access for Steps, Distance, and Exercise.
Make sure Stridekick has Read access for those same data types.
💡 Scroll all the way down — check both Read allowed and Write allowed sections.
If your tracker isn’t listed, it isn’t connected yet. Reopen your tracker app and follow its prompts to connect it to Health Connect.
⚙️ Step 2: Check Data Type Permissions
Sometimes specific data types (like Steps or Distance) aren’t toggled on.
To confirm:
Open Health Connect.
Under Permissions and data, tap Data and access.
Tap a data type (for example, Steps or Distance).
Check which apps can Read and Write that data.
If Stridekick isn’t listed as a reader, go back to App permissions and enable it.
💡 You can tap any app listed under “Read” or “Write” to adjust its permissions directly.
What Samsung Health Actually Shares
✅ Steps: Usually shared reliably through Health Connect.
⚠️ Distance: Often unpredictable — only shared when you start a tracked exercise (like a walk or run).
❌ Active Minutes: Not supported — Health Connect doesn’t send the data Stridekick needs for this metric.
If you only rely on background steps, Samsung Health may not send any distance data.
💡 Our recommendation: Connect Google Fit in addition to Samsung Health.
Use Samsung Health for steps
Use Google Fit for distance
Health Connect will merge the two automatically so both show up in Stridekick
Step 3: 🧩 Double-Check Your Connections
To make sure your Samsung Health data can reach Stridekick, both apps need to be connected through Health Connect.
Confirm Samsung Health → Health Connect is linked
Open the Samsung Health app
Tap Menu (☰) → Settings → Health Connect
Make sure you see options to “Share data” or “Manage data” — if not, tap Get started and follow the prompts to allow Samsung Health to share Steps and Distance data.
You can also open Health Connect → App permissions → confirm that Samsung Health has “Write access” for Steps and Distance.
Confirm Stridekick → Health Connect is linked
Open Health Connect → App permissions
Tap Stridekick and confirm it has “Read access” for Steps and Distance.
If it’s not listed, reconnect Stridekick to Health Connect in your Stridekick app under ☰ Menu → My Device → Health Connect.
✅ When set up correctly:
You’ll see Samsung Health listed as a data writer
You’ll see Stridekick listed as a data reader
You’ll see your steps data visible inside Health Connect
If Samsung Health isn’t writing data to Health Connect, Stridekick won’t see any steps — even if Stridekick is connected properly.
🌍 Step 4: Double-Check Your Time Zone
An incorrect time zone in Stridekick can prevent your steps from syncing properly.
Tap the 3 bars in the upper left corner.
Go to Settings → Time Zone.
Update if needed.
🚷 Seeing Incorrect Step Counts?
If your step counts look wrong, multiple apps may be writing to Health Connect at once.
To fix it:
Open Settings → Security & privacy → Privacy → Health Connect (Android 14+).
For older devices: Settings → Apps → Health Connect → Open.
Tap Manage data → Data sources and priority.
Choose a category (like Steps).
If data still looks off:
Delete inaccurate entries from Health Connect manually.
Limit which apps write each type of data (e.g., let only Samsung Health write step data).
Make sure you’re not logging steps from two trackers at once.
Active Minutes Not Syncing?
Health Connect doesn’t pass along the data needed for Stridekick to calculate Active Minutes, so these won’t appear automatically.
If you’d like to track them manually, reach out to our Support Team — we can enable manual entry for you.
Manage or Remove Permissions (Optional)
To limit which apps write specific data:
Open Health Connect → App permissions.
Tap an app to adjust what it can Read or Write.
Toggle permissions ON or OFF as needed.
To remove access for all apps:
Scroll to the bottom of the App permissions page and tap Remove access for all apps.
💬 Still Stuck?
